Last month saw the reissue of Carter USM’s 30 Something album via Chrysalis Records. Once again we were asked to lend our DVD Authoring skills. This time committing the legendary VHS release In Bed With Carter to disc for the first time! Filmed at Brixton Academy in 1991, the DVD complements 3 CDs that include the original album, a collection of b-sides and a live CD.

Originally released in February 1991, the album received 10/10 from NME upon release. This deluxe version features 3CDs and a DVD and all audio content is remastered. The package also includes the “In Bed With Carter” live concert from Brixton in 1991. This was previously only available on VHS and is highly sought after with a new commentary from Jim Bob and Fruitbat.

The DVD audio commentary alone justifies the purchase price. With Jim Bob and Fruitbat’s irreverent take on the gig, with their fans, their pets and the local binmen all getting a mention. Still as vital as ever, it’s clear why this band have maintained legendary status.

30 Something stlll sounds epic today. Not a bad track on this album. A Prince In A Pauper’s Grave, Bloodsport For All, Say It With Flowers, Billy’s Smart Circus. No wonder it was a hit at the time. The whole highlight of this is the amazing DVD of their performance at Brixton Academy.
